Green Planet at Glance

Greenplanet (GPI) An Environmental Non Government Organization (ENGO) was founded in 2008 with the aim of "establishing to strengthen Our Collapsed Eco system and Strong Public Awareness for the Environment, Sustainable Development and Energy “. It was registered on 14th November’2011 under the Bombay Public Trust Act (1950) and has been accredited by the United Nations Civil Society of UNEP. The organization has applied for special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Greenplanet has been registered for exemption from Income Tax under the Income Tax Act 1961 of India.

General Council

The GREENPLANET General Council consists of 307 members from all over India. It meets on an annual basis and Elects a 32 member Executive Committee once every three years. Its main functions are to:

  • Evaluate the past year's projects and plan for the coming year.
  • Evaluate the annual report and expenditure statements as well as evaluating the budget for the coming year.
  • Elect the Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Joint Secretary on a tri-yearly basis.
  • Approve the proposals, resolutions and amendments put forward by the Standing Committee.

Executive Committee

The 32 member Executive Committee consists of five primary office bearers - the President, Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Joint Secretary are elected by the General Council once every three years. It meets on a quarterly basis and its main functions are to:

  • Consider applications for GREENPLANET membership.
  • Recruit and dismiss GREENPLANET personnel..
  • Propose amendments to the GREENPLANET constitution.
  • Develop and implement GREENPLANET ' programs and activities.
  • Fund raises and accepts grants • Present the GREENPLANET bank account‘s details..

Management, paid staff and volunteers

GREENPLANET is jointly managed and administered by the Secretary & Executive Director and Joint Secretary, With the help of GREENPLANET staff. In addition, GREENPLANET work is made possible through the dedicated work of some 145 Volunteers spread throughout Gujarat who deliver their services for the projects implemented by GREENPLANET in their areas.
